NOTES: What can i say....... Jimmy (Stix) Dale (my 10 year old son)
did it again..... brought the Lobster Festival crowd to their feet in an ovation..... Jimmy played his new Lime Gold Fender Stratocaster for the 2nd time as i played on my acoustic guitar backing him up...
Jimmy played ''Miserlou'' and ''The Oasis of Mara'' as the crowd joined in with their cheers and applause while Jimmy played.
Then as frosting on the cake....Jimmy got on the drums and played his heart out to Surfbeat, The dd blues and Miserlou.... another standing ovation.... plus everyone braved the light rain showers throughout the whole concert.... we all stood together afterwards as i signed autographs to every age you could think of.....what a night....
Marvin Estrada the promoter did a fantastic job of putting this Lobster Fest together.... the talent that performed all day was at its best and all enjoyed..... it takes alot of coordinating to put such an event together and make it run smoothly..... everyone on the city chamber pitched in and were so friendly which made it a pleasure to be a part of.... Everyone got their lobster and got butter all over their face..ha
Jimmy and I hope to be back next year....... thanks Marvin... dd

NOTES: every lovin dd music surfin hodaddy was there from the beginning of time.... plus great surfin babes and non surfin babes.... blown out to the walls and it was fun..... the club is the 2nd oldest venue in town. Tootie the owner was a very cool guy and loved having us there. I stayed across the street at the Holiday Inn Express...Ray and Lorica at the desk took very good care of me and they also took real good care of my family and friends that came to be with me at the Lobster Fest concert for the next day....
I had so much fun i went next door from the Holiday Inn to the Pacific Volkswagon showroom and what a showroom it is....man, bugs all over the place... like drops of candy.... I walked in and Brian Hodge the salesman came up to me as i was sitting in this sweetest Candydrop Lime Green Beetle (Bug) .... a 2003 Turbo Special Edition with a spoiler that pops up when you go over 120 mph..... hell, the speedo says 160mph, its like driving my C5 Corvette convert.... man, this thing goes around a corner like pac man.....
Brian was a very cool dude that didnt give me the sales pressure pitch...he just let me hang out in and about the beetle and answered all my questions and just gave me the facts. When i made up my mind to buy, Brian went all the way to bat for me to get a fair price... so i bought the Turbo Beetle on the spot... I like him, he's a good guy....
Antoinette Givens, the contact writer, looked a real down to business person dressed in a suit....but when i came up to her she gave me the biggest smile greeting me and her welcome was so warm and genuine I felt very comfortable in filling out the papers. She also went out of her way to help me in my requests....the world is full of friends you haven't met yet... Brian and Antoinette are new friends...
so....my day in Hermosa Beach turned out to be a very special day in my life as i now have a very special romance with my candy lime special edition Beetle.
A space age ''Herbie''..... i will be back next year.....or sooner.....dd

NOTES: DOUBLE the music lovers that were there last year.....it was in the thousands....... the hill was packed from side to side, top to bottom to the stage....everyone in their folding chairs and camping on their blankets...families with their children from their strollers to their teens...
I strolled through the crowd playing my guitar (the beast) and putting my guitar picks in the kiddies hands and guiding them as they played my guitar to the crowd....they had a ball.
The highlight of the show was my son Jimmy (Stix) Dale playing on his new Fender Stratocaster guitar especially built for him by the Master builder himself, John English, Fender's custom guitar builder. It was a copy of my Dick Dale Signature Fender Strat.... only built righthanded for Jimmy but with a reverse position 3rd pickup, the only righthanded Fender like that....
Thank you ''Gordon Parkman'' of The Fender Company for making this possible.
I played my electric acoustic guitar and Jimmy played his new lime gold sparkle Fender Strat... Jimmy played "Miserlou" and "The Oasis of Mara". Jimmy then jumped up to drums and played like Gene Krupa to Surf Beat, The DD Blues, Shredded Heat and topped it off playing to Miserlou..... a standing ovation followed.... I was one proud estatic dad...
